Gut Check on Your Marriage

Blogher picked up our post on graphing efficiency in marriage. Looking at it again I realize that lately my husband and I have both been putting a lot of time into working. Working at work, working at home, working on the go–in fact, we’re both working right now, sitting on the couch, side by side, on our laptops. Ah, the romance of it all! We look kind of like this, only that’s not me in the picture. It’s my daughter, looking into her future.

At any rate, if I were to graph “working” it would go in the top right, something we spend a lot of time doing and that’s also really important. But it also bums me out. We like our work and we value it, but goddam if most of the time we wouldn’t rather be sitting on a beach catching jellyfish.
